Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) is a comprehensive theory grounded in love and attachment developed by Dr. Sue Johnson in the 1980’s. Originally developed for working with couples for healing emotional distress, EFT has also expanded to working with families. The focus of EFT is an experiential process where negative communication patterns are identified and transformed, emotional needs are explored and verbalized, and relational problems are understood while creating a secure bond of attachment. Research indicates that emotionally fulfilling relationships are integral components of positive mental and physical health. Specific research on EFT has also found that 70-75% of couples move from distress to recovery and approximately 90% show significant improvements through this therapeutic process.
"As a trained therapist in EFT, I am dedicated to assisting individuals, couples, and families with understanding and enhancing their relationships through an emotionally focused lens grounded in attachment. My therapeutic work emphasizes the impact of emotional responses and explores the basic needs of each individual for a more fulfilling relationship and secure bond."

“All of us, from cradle to grave, are happiest when life is organized as a series of excursions, long or short, from the secure base provided by our attachment figure(s).”
